About Mike

Thanks for visiting this site. I’m Mike Browning – 20 years old and counting. Here are some things about me. I’d love to open discussions on any of these passions, albeit geeky passions, we may share:

============================

I am a musician. I play guitar and am learning keyboard. My gear includes: Epiphone Les Paul with custom DiMarzio humbuckers, Fender Telecaster, Bogner Shiva 80-watt all tube combo amp (miked with a Sennheiser e509), Boss Pedals Galore (My favorite is the Digital Delay DD20), Taylor 310-CE for the acoustic, and a glorious MicroKORG running through Logic for all my digital synth cravings.

I mainly play for worship bands, especially at the Chapel and the Gathering Place ministries, but I have pioneered several pop-indie bands before, including Second to None and The Story. I also currently play with David Herndon’s back-up band. I have a personal collection of songs in the works. My recording setup includes Logic 7 on a Mac Pro and several MXL condenser microphones, both wide-diaphragm and supercardioid. Every now and then, I fill in on hand percussion, and my djembe of choice is a handmade Sageman 16″ monster with demonic-looking carvings (perfect for church).

 I am a videographer. I have worked for U.S. Customs and Border Protection producing training media and have also fulfilled a handful of independent contracts. I got my start working with print media, learning digital pre-press with Photoshop and Illustrator, and running lithographic print operations. However, I chose this government job over a printing apprenticeship and I believe it to be God’s mysterious leading now that I look back. I learned AVID and After Effects, all while using DVCPro and BetaCam cameras, along with a host of other professional processes during my time with the federales. Currently, I attend Valdosta State University as a Mass Media major and own my own business (see below).

Here’s the run down of my equipment: Canon XH-A1, Manfrotto sticks (love ‘em), and a homemade Home Depot light kit (works wonders). Also am using a Sennheiser ME66 boom mic. As for post-production: Mac Pro, Adobe Production Bundle CS2 (Premiere Pro 2, After Effects 7, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, Encore DVD), Autodesk Cleaner and Combustion (encoding and additional compositing), and SonicFire Pro and Logic 7 (for soundtracking). My wishlist, on the other hand, cannot be contained herein.

In addition to being a videographer, I’m also a motion graphic artist. Actually, I consider myself more of an artist that a videographer. I excel in Adobe After Effects, and am currently learning Autodesk’s Maya (very powerful 3D tool) as a complement to my composites.

 I am an outdoorsman. I enjoy simple things like fishing, camping, and hiking. I also enjoy mountain biking (own a Giant Yukon, 2006 model) and hunting (Remington 25.06 and a Remington 870 12 gauge for the waterfowl) and bowhunting (PSE Nova compound). In addition, I’m a bit of a beach bum, even in the winter days. Global warming is okay by me: more Summertime! I’m willing to pioneer new adventures, including caving, kayaking, and paddle-boarding – both sound fun. And just to be open, even though I love the water, I cannot swim, so please don’t throw me in the deep end if the opportunity arises.

============================

I have my own business: VisionQuest Media Solutions. I specialize in Videography and Motion Graphics. I am available for contracting in the areas previously spoken, for print design, and even as a producer. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at 912.399.1671 for information and consultation.

============================

 Above all, I love the Lord. I cannot say that I am a faithful follower. I can say that I am a daily follower. Sometimes those days are not passionate ones, or are far from it. But I seek the Lord in both heart, soul, strength, and mind. I also seek to love others to the best of my ability (and that, too, can often lack passion). I try not to be opinionated or wise in my own eyes, but sometimes in my writings and in my intellectual searchings, I come to conclusions that may be far from the truth (so please forgive me and help me to understand). I believe in scholarship and the search for wisdom (as is prescribed in Proverbs), but I am also aware that scholarship can sometimes unintentionally replace faith and true wisdom. If that be the case in my writings, please correct me. I am also seeking to love the Lord in deed, and a huge part of that means being a servant to others. Please join me in this struggle to be a servant and not a hoarder.
